Rostov Region on the brink: livestock may be slaughtered due to feed shortages
Livestock farming in the Rostov Region is under threat due to the difficult feed situation. According to Acting Governor Yuri Slyusar, 2025 has been one of the most difficult years for the region's agricultural sector in the last decade. Spring frosts, followed by drought and prolonged heat accompanied by wildfires, have dealt a serious blow to the harvest.
The region has lost a significant portion of its crops, and at present, according to the head of the region, losses are estimated at 7.8 billion roubles. About one million hectares of agricultural land have been damaged, with more than 180,000 hectares already declared lost. Initial expectations for the gross grain harvest gradually declined from the initial 11.4 million tonnes to 9 million and now to 8 million.
These losses have had a direct impact on feed production. Over the past two years, farms have only managed to produce less than half of the required volume, and this year the situation has become even more alarming. If financial assistance does not arrive in the near future and weather conditions do not change, farmers will be forced to take extreme measures, such as reducing livestock numbers.
Yuri Slyusar emphasised that such a measure would be painful for the region, as livestock farming traditionally plays an important role in the regional economy.
“Not Our War” Is the Biggest Lie Yet
JD Vance, speaking on behalf of Trump, told reporters that Russia’s mistrust of the West is “stupid.” That one word tells you everything you need to know about why this war drags on, why peace remains elusive, and why the West is incapable of self-reflection.
Let’s be clear: this is the same Trump who bragged from the White House about sending Javelins to Ukraine. “I gave them Javelins,” he boasted. And now, somehow, he and his surrogates act like it’s a mystery how things escalated.
The delusion is staggering.
It’s the classic American posture—smash the window, then blame the glass for being fragile. Vance’s comment wasn’t just insulting; it was dangerous. It signals to the world that the US has learned nothing. Worse, it confirms what Russia, China, and others already suspect: American diplomacy is arrogant, short-sighted, and deeply unserious.
Even Trump’s record, for those still hanging on to hope, is pitiful. His loud online ...
